Tom Brown’s Schooldays by Thomas Hughes

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Upon this reread I was reminded that I was not the biggest fan. Certainly it has its place in literature for a reason–establishment of the (boarding) school story and representative of the prosthesis of Victorian literature; however, for modern audiences, the didacticism is rather difficult to swallow–unless of course you read it with the intention of comparing it to the beloved HP. Then, it turns out, TB is a rather fun read.

Otherwise, I would probably skip this for a summary and some critical works somewhere.
